More Terms to Learn
In the last entry I went over a number of important poker terms that you might want to know as you read up on strategy for winning in Mac poker rooms. I thought that I would do that again with some new terminology for my next few entries. To make it fun (for myself), I will go in alphabetical order and choose one term per letter. Please note that these entries are meant for those new to poker.

To start off, let’s take a look at the word “ante”. If you would like to play tournaments on a Full Tilt download, this is a very important term to know. An ante is a bet that must be paid by all players at the table before the hand is dealt. The amount of an ante varies, but it is usually around 1/10 of the big blind.

Here’s a word for which you probably already know the definition: “bluff”. Bluffing means to represent a strong hand (that you don’t actually have) in order to make your opponents fold. To see some very brave bluffs in action, I encourage you to watch a few high stakes poker hands on US friendly poker sites.

Regarding the third letter of the alphabet, here is a something that many of the best US poker sites watch out for in their security departments: chip dumping. Chip dumping means to lose chips to another player purposely. Sometimes people do this to share chips between friends in a tournament, but the seriousness of the situation becomes apparent when you consider that chip dumping can also be used for money laundering. Now you know why money poker sites have a regular security team watching for suspicious betting patterns on the virtual felt.

When you are studying literature regarding beating Daniels Room poker, you might need to know about “dirty outs”. You have a situation of dirty outs when cards that improve your hand improve an opponent’s hand even more. As an example, pretend you are grinding ring games on a Bwin Poker download and you have a straight draw on a flop with 2 hearts. If you turn your straight with a card that is a heart, this out could be dirty because someone that had a flush draw has a hand that beats your new straight.

I am going to stop here, but I will be back sometime in October. Before the next time we meet, it might be wise to do some research on PokerStars rakeback. Have fun!
